Nice, Monaco, Èze, Cannes, Antibes, Saint Paul de Vence and COVID-19

Short one this time – as I need to post early due to travel… and changes.

It was so good catching up seeing Sherwin, but I did embarrass him by bursting into tears at the airport. This was only exacerbated by the fact that his plane was grounded in Milan due to bad weather here. So two trips to the airport and back on no sleep, so was not as emotionally controlled as I would have liked to have been (or he would have liked). Of course, once he was here, it was all go-go-go. I think I have travelled a fair bit now, and after a week on one place, it was great to see the enthusiasm and excitement through fresh eyes. I have started walking a lot more since he is with me, which is a good thing. Sleeping less, which is not so good. He has a very bad jet lag problem, so therefore, I do too.

We did a French Riviera tour yesterday. Great, but a very long tour. All the places are listed in the title of this blog. Of it all, we probably mostly enjoyed the perfume factory (yup… even I enjoyed it), the old parts of Eze and Saint Paul de Vence. Monaco was stunning. Plus, as some of you know, we got to eat the best burgers I have ever had. As a life time assessor of burgers, that is a pretty big call! Cannes was pretty boring. I think, unless you are really into cinema celebrity, then there is not much to it unless the festival is on. Antibes was interesting and old, but I don’t think we got enough time there to explore. Overall, good trip. Good guide. And a bit of a full on day.

Now to this virus. Due to the risk of quarantine, and as I would prefer Sherwin not to spend 14 days of his trip here in lock-down, I have had to cancel Italy. Not such an easy task trying to get refunds for non-refundable things. But… that’s life. We are now flying direct to Geneva Saturday morning, and then extend our time in Lucerne. However sorted this is (and it’s a bit sketchy), I woke up to the news from my agent that my flight to Seoul has been cancelled, but due to the latest advice, my whole time there should be cancelled. I am not sure how the rest of my trip to Asia will go, but I guess it is wait and see.

I have not been able to upload to my “current photos”. This is more technical issues with my site, but I will do so when I get some down time to fix it. I will splatter some more below, but apologies, as they are not as high quality versions as on my photos page.

I hope everyone is well and has enough toilet paper to survive the apocalypse :P Be kind and share your toilet paper (and, for my filipino friends in Australia, rice!) with those who really need toilet paper (and rice).
